Jack Dixon’s stippled, highly textured house continues to impress.

Dixon’s dubby ‘You Won’t Let Me’ – a molasses-thick house cut in the the mould of Gui Boratto’s classic ‘Arquipelago’ – was one of the inaugural releases on the newly reanimated Apollo label earlier this year. He’s now hopped over to another label doing big things in 2012, Scuba’s robust Hotflush imprint, and he’s correspondingly toughened up his sound.

New track ‘E’, taken from a forthcoming solo 12″, is straight from the Addison Groove school of reconstituted ghetto house, setting an elastic booty bassline over vintage hits’n’clicks. There’s a touch of dolour in those synths too, making for a more sophisticated variation on the retro-house template.

‘E’/’Find Shelter’ is due on November 5 on Hotflush. Head over to Pitchfork to listen.
