Turns out Snoop Lion’s just a big old pussycat.

The West Coast rapper’s metamorphosis into a reggae star might be being charted in the forthcoming Reincarnated documentary, but the ‘La La La’ clip is the first music video Snoop’s participated in since his awakening. His trips to Jamaica seems to have done him the world of good, with Snoop on ostensibly merry form.

The clip sees Snoop ostensibly taking the lead role in a psychedelic children’s play, and the results are cute enough to melt even Benjamin Zephaniah’s heart.  Snoop chats to the wee yins, boogies with some kids, and wears a lion costume. There are weird touches  – a pineapple puffing lye, for one – but for the most part this could be plucked from a particularly happening episode of Playdays. Perhaps the biggest surprise of all is that the cutesy clip is directed by gore fanatic Eli Roth, who directed grisly horror flick Hostel. All in all ‘La La La’ offers a fun glimpse into a parallel universe where Snoop is your favourite primary school teacher. Good morning, Mr. Lion. [via Hypetrak]
