UNO NYC are cultivating a peculiar, rewarding little roster.

Fatima Al Qadiri’s highly idiosyncratic dance productions combine lo-fi sonics with high ideas – her forthcoming Desert Strike EP (for Fade To Mind) takes the Gulf War as its thematic starting point. Gobby’s proven himself a predictably unpredictable talent, darting from lunatic fare with Mykki Blanco to scuffed ambient sketches, and swoonsome broken beat producer Kuhrye-oo has notched up some enjoyable releases to boot.

One of the label’s better dispatches this year was Aquarian’s ‘Motherisk’, a squirming acid/jungle hybrid with a very contemporary digital sheen (it also enjoyed a typically forward remix from Randomer). The track features on the new four-track Obsidian EP, which is now available to stream in its entirety, courtesy of XLR8R. Fans of Blawan’s controlled chaos are in luck: this is rough-edged, knuckleduster hybridisation of techno, acid and vintage rave.

Obsidian is out now.
