King Britt

King Britt, the superlative Philadelphia producer whose work has spanned house, techno, broken beat, hip-hop and more, has created a custom sample pack entitled Fragments Vol.1.

According to Beatport, through which the pack is being made available exclusively, Fragments Vol.1  was made “using unconventional and imaginative tools, ranging from a Nintendo DS to randomized Max4Live patches… Drum loops, one shots, and found sound samples are all included with an .alp file to get you grooving right out of the box.”

Included in the pack are so-called King Glitch Beats, King Looped Beats, King Back Beats, King Found Sound Percussion, King Rhythmic Textures, as well as an Ableton Ready Live Pack.

Says Britt: “When working within Ableton, the only DAW I use, you begin to realize the ease of creating a live loop library for yourself, due to the clips page and exporting your loops from there. I started doing this when I was doing more live shows, so I would have a pool of my own sounds to pick from. I then realized that I wanted to share some of my ideas with other producers and the best way was this!”

King Britt is responsible for one of our favourite releases of 2012: Chasing Rainbows, an EP made under the name Fhloston Paradigm and released on Hyperdub.
