East London festival Field Day has announced its first line-up details for 2013.

In seven years of operation Field Day has ascended to the top rung of the UK festival circuit, and takes place each Summer in Hackney’s Victoria Park. 2012 saw the festival switch from its usual August slot in the calendar to May so as not to clash with London’s Olympic Games, and it’s a decision that must have worked: despite no Usain Bolt in town (potential DJ sets aside), 2013 will again see a Field Day in May.

The first names announced for Field Day 2013 are, as you’d expect, some of the biggest. Two of 2012’s hottest live commodities, TNGHT and Disclosure, lead the charge, with Animal Collective, Bat for Lashes, Four Tet, Fucked Up, Daphni, Jacques Greene and a Hessle Audio showcase (Ben UFO, Pearson Sound and Pangaea) not far behind. Blawan and Pariah will take their live show as Karenn – recently debuted at London’s Fabric – to the park, as will How to Dress Well, Julio Bashmore and Mulatu Astatke.

Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs, Chvrches, Daughter, Django Django, Tim Burgess, Do Make Say Think, Emeralds, Everything Everything, Francois & The Atlas Mountains, Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion, James Yorkston, Thomas Mapfumo and Vondelpark round up the first line-up announcement.
