It’s always a pleasure to see the words “Hackman” and “remix” squidged between two brackets.

As exemplified by past triumphs ‘Made Up My Mind’ and ‘More Than Ever’, the PTN regular’s got an odd knack for making house music that’s simultaneously delicate and danceable. The same goes for his remixes: he’s memorably had his way with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’ ‘Garden’ and Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’.

His new mix of Mancunian indie outfit The 1975 is a case in point, and ranks up there with his best releases this year (cf the lucent ‘Agree To Disagree’). Thankfully, there’s oceans of clear blue water between the dreary emo of the original and Hackman’s edit. Analgesic synth pads are left to shine over a delicate, gently stuttering beat. It’s not remotely complicated, but it’s lush, weightless – and undeniably lovely. [via Abeano]
