The brothers Voigt are set to team up on their first ever full-length effort.

Wolfgang Voigt’s name, of course, precedes him. Over two decades, he’s farmed out one of the richest discographies in electronic music: spartan techno project Studio 1 and his heady ambient work as GAS get the bulk of the attention, but he’s churned out killer music under countless other aliases (Mike Ink and Mint among them). As boss of Kompakt, he’s cultivated the careers of The Field and Gui Boratto, and he’s stayed on the top of his game with the recent Umbau 2 and Rückverzauberung 6 releases.

Brother Reinhard, meanwhile, has put out gauzy techno as Sturm, including a severely underrated 1999 self-titled LP. Over the last decade, the fraternal pair have intermittently teamed up as Voigt & Voigt, dropping 12″s on the Kompakt Extra sub-label. Two discs of unfussy techno for new imprint Erdingertrax arrived earlier this year, and the duo are now getting into the album game.

Die Zauberhafte Welt Der Anderen will arrive on Kompakt in February, and promises ten new melody-orientated sketches and experimental jams. It’s a lovely, groggy set, spotted with fragments of vocals and live instrumentation. Die Zauberhafte Welt Der Anderen is due on February 18.
