More news on Primal Scream’s forthcoming tenth studio LP, courtesy of the inimitable David Holmes.

The Northern Irish producer, who has been at the helm of recording sessions for the album, has confirmed via Facebook that the band’s latest will arrive in May 2013. Holmes also revealed that the album will be titled More Light.

Holmes’ message, accompanied by a picture of a fresh-faced Lemmy, read:

“the new primal scream album is sequenced and mastered…its called “more light” and will be released in may…one love! X”

As Clash point out, the title appears to be a reference to the famous last words of Romantic polymath Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (or, perhaps, J. Mascis’ 2000 LP with The Fog).

The album is set to feature contributions from The Pop Group’s Mark Stewart and My Bloody Valentine bassist (and temporary stand-in for Mani) Debbie Googe. Holmes has reportedly been a crucial influence, with the band claiming that the one-time Disco Evangelist has been playing the group weird German and French esoterica in the studio.
