Download a jacking new track from swung house kingpin Hackman

Hackman knows his way around a house/2-step hybrid, as his latest freebie demonstrates.

‘No Good’ follows a brace of releases in 2012, including discs for Pattern, Audio Culture (with Tessela) and Deadplate Records (with Bluto), plus the odd unlikely indie remix. In the best possible sense, you tend to know what you’re getting with Hackman, and ‘No More’ absolutely delivers. As per ‘More Than Ever’ or this year’s ‘Agree To Disagree’, ‘No More’ is fleet-footed house, produced with an eye for detail and an ear trained on vintage UK garage. There are lush touches – the jangle of marimbas; those no-you-didn’t-girlfriend vocal samples – but ‘No More’ is all about the crunchy drum programming and the low-end. Hackman’s debut LP is due later this year. [via XLR8R]
