Chief Beach Boy Brian Wilson is to set to get the Hollywood treatment.

Litte Miss Sunshine‘s Paul Dano is slated to play Wilson, with Bill Pohlad in the director’s chair. The film, scripted by I’m Not There screenwriter Oren Movernman, will document Wilson’s life over several decades, and will focus in on his famous battles with mental illness and his relationship with his first wife Marilyn Rovell. Another actor will be recruited to play the older Wilson, although the casting has yet to be finalised.

The OST for the film will reportedly come from composer/producer Atticus Ross, currently busy working with Trent Reznor’s How To Destroy Angels project. Ross is apparently in talks to provide a new score for the film, and is also expected to co-ordinate sound design. Ross and Reznor have previously worked together on the scores for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network.

After years of acrimonious finger-pointing, The Beach Boys reformed last year for a successful 50th anniversary tour – then subsequently fell apart amid further acrimonious finger-pointing. [via The Hollywood Reporter]
