The Devil's Business

Since its inception last year, Spencer Hickman’s Death Waltz label has earned much acclaim for its beautifully presented vinyl editions of classic horror soundtracks by the likes of John Carpenter & Alan Howarth, Fabio Frizzi and Giuliano Sorgini, and more recent offerings by Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko) and Johan Söderqvist (Let The Right One In).

It opens its account for 2013 with what is, compared to the above, a wholly contemporary work: Justin Greaves‘ original score for The Devil’s Business. Directed by Sean Hogan, The Devil’s Business was released to theatres and DVD last year, and is billed by Death Waltz as a “gritty, low-budget satanic gangster film that shares its DNA with Ben Wheatley’s Kill List“.

The “eerie…minimal yet epic” soundtrack is by Justin Greaves, leader of Crippled Black Phoenix, and is pressed on 180g vinyl and housed hear in a typically handsome Death Waltz sleeve with all-new cover art from Jay Shaw. Shaw, Greaves and Sean Hogan all contribute to the sleevenotes.
