Tessela launches Poly Kicks label, announces 'Hackney Parrot' single

Freewheeling West County producer Tessela has set up a new label, Poly Kicks.

Tessela’s been one to watch since 2011’s ‘Slugger’ 12″ for All City – a rollicking 2-step cut that synthesised Blawan’s mercurial drum programming with Unknown To The Unknown’s brand of UKG worship. Since then, he’s collaborated with Hackman on the ‘Now I’ve Lost My Number 4’ single for Audio Culture, and knocked out an 12″ for Punch Drunk, notable for fantastic five minute conniption ‘D Jane’. Charmingly, he’s also put out a collaborative release on the Brothers label with Truss, who happens to be his actual flesh’n’blood brother.

The producer has now started his own imprint, christened Poly Kicks. Tessela will contribute the first release, a 12″ called ‘Hackney Parrot’. The track has been percolating around since late 2012, notably cropping up in a Boiler Room set (and enthusiastic Tweets) from Jackmaster. It’s a glorious mish-mash – acid-house vocals, deep house synths and dubstep rumble, all assembled with a junglist’s ear for percussion. The single will arrive backed with previously unheard track ‘Helter Skelter’, an antsy bit of disassembled breakbeat. [via Hyponik]

‘Hackney Parrot’/’Helter Skelter’ is due on 12″ in March.
