James Blake to premiere new track tonight on BBC Radio 1

Later today, James Blake will unveil the first new material from his follow-up to his wildly successful 2011 debut.

Blake’s sophomore album – no, not that one – is due later this year, and he’ll premiere the lead track from the release later this evening. As Pitchfork report, ‘Retrograde’ will get its first spin on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show at 7.30pm tonight. The track will be familiar to seasoned Blakespottters – he’s been playing it in his live show in recent months.

Blake will embark on a North American tour in April and May; head here to see the full list of dates. You can also watch concert footage of unreleased Blake material here.

Update: Stream ‘Retrograde’ now. The soulful tune finds Blake cooing over a simple hip-hop heartbeat and sinewy ‘CMYK’-era synth pads. [via GvsB]
