The Melvins recruit friends to cover Queen, David Bowie, Throbbing Gristle, and more

After setting the Guinness World Record for the fastest US tour by a band, the Melvins have recorded a covers album entitled Everybody Loves Sausages.

Along with a diverse list of covers, including songs by Queen, Bowie, Roxy Music, The Kinks, Venom, and Throbbing Gristle, the band recruited Jello Biafra, Scott Kelly of Neurosis, and Mark Arm of Mudhoney to help out.

“This record will give people a peak into the kind of things that influence us musically,” explains Buzz Osborne. “We REALLY like all of these songs along with the bands who actually wrote this stuff because first and foremost we are HUGE music fans.”

While the majority of the songs were recorded by the “proper” Melvins’ line-up (featuring the line-up of Osborne, Dale Crover, Jared Warren and Coady Willis), there are a handful of songs recorded as under the “Melvins Lite” moniker (Osborne, Crover and Trevor Dunn): ‘Female Trouble’, ‘Timothy Leary Lives’, and ‘Romance By Tales of Terror’.

Everybody Loves Sausages is due out on April 29 via Ipecac Recordings. The tracklist, detailing original artist and guest appearances, is below.
