Premiere: Stream Trace, the new EP for Aus Music from Midland

The ever-reliable Midland will drop his latest release for Aus Music next week.

Midland’s relationship with Will Saul’s imprint is long and fertile. His debut release was the ‘Your Words Matter’/’More Than You Know’ split with Ramadanman back in 2010, and he returned to the fold the following year with the warped Through Motion disc. 2012, meanwhile, saw the producer surpass himself with the hazy, heady Placement EP.

Trace is the latest chapter in the Midland/Aus story, and sees the producer contribute two more specimens of mutant house. The title track is an infectious bit of pneumatic deep house, notable for a vocal hook that sounds like Isaac Hayes singing with a mouth full of bees. B-side ‘For (Yacht) Club Use Only’, meanwhile, might borrow its title schtick from Joy O’s ‘ Big Room Tech House Dj Tool – Tip!’, but it’s closer in spirit to his recent collaborative effort with Pariah for SHEWORKS.

Trace is due on Febraury 18. Click below to stream the record in full.
