At a live show this Friday gone, Method Man confirmed that Wu Tang plan to release a new album this year.

The group officially announced work on a new full-length in January, after several years of “will they or won’t they” speculation following the release of 2007’s 8 Diagrams (the story in short: RZA pissed about half the group off, Ghostface and Raekwon went off and did their own thing for a while, GZA said that he didn’t think another album would happen, everything eventually got resolved). Method Man’s mid-set speech, from a show at West Hollywood’s Key Club, confirms that the group are planning to release the album this year, and it will, it seems, be billed as a 20th Anniversary Album (the group’s classic debut record, 36 Chambers, was released on November 9, 1993).

RZA has spoken in the past about wanting to release an album on the same date as 36 Chambers, 20 years on, and the way Meth speaks about the record on this clip, it seems that the group are gearing up for a November release. Now, RZA has also talked about wanting to “close the book” on Wu Tang with this record, but unfortunately Meth doesn’t go into whether this album will be the group’s swansong or not.
