Experimental warmonger Mika Vainio announces new album, Kilo

Sound artist, noise musician and occasional Stooges tribute act, Mika Vainio, has announced a new album, Kilo

Vainio is best known for his work with Pan Sonic, a now-dormant group famed for their experiments with noise and techno, live sound performances (think gigs from armoured cars and extended stints exposed to low-frequency noise in garages – and way before David Blaine, too), and releases on labels like Sähkö and Blast First.

Kilo sees Vainio return to Blast First – or, at least, its sub-label Blastfirstpetite – with an album billed as “the beat driven follow-up to 2011’s harrowing Life (…It Easts You Up)”, though it’s worth noting that Vainio released two albums last year, Fe₃O₄ – Magnetite on Touch and a collaborative effort with Kevin Drumm and others for PAN. Featuring 10 new tracks recorded at Vainio’s home studio in Berlin, Kilo will be released on May 6.
