With the Wrestlemania wagon rolling back into town, Harlem MC Smoke DZA has dropped a veritable moonsault of an EP.

Although yet to get the sort of attention currently reserved for fellow NY rappers Joey Bada$$ and Action Bronson, Smoke DZA is definitely on the up. Following a string of well-received mixtapes, Smoke dropped 2011’s Rolling Stoned collection, and followed up in 2012 with Rugby Thompson, a full-length collaboration with beatmaker du jour Harry Fraud.

New EP Ringside, produced by 183rd Music, is an impressive collection of blunted ambient hip-hop and scruffy party joints. Highlights are coruscating drone-hop opener ‘The Streak’ and echo-drenched throwback jam ‘Wolf Pack’, but it’s a strong selection across the board.

The rapper trails the album as follows:

Being that today is Wrestlemania, the holiest day of all things wrestling, (that I’m currently attending right now) I felt inspired again to treat my fans and fellow wrestling junkies alike to a new EP for you guys to digest in between all the commotion! The project is entirely produced by 183rd fellow R.F.C member, in-house producer/beatdown specialist sit back and enjoy #Ringside
