TREASURE TROVE OF BEACH BOYS SHEET MUSIC, PHOTOGRAPHY AND MORE TO SELL FOR £7M AFTER BEING BOUGHT FOR HUNDREDS IN A BLIND AUCTION

A treasure trove of Beach Boys sheet music, photography and more will be sold for £7m+ after being discovered in a garage in Florida.

The collection spans the first 20 years of the group’s career, and includes hand-written arrangements to classics like ‘God Only Knows’ and ‘I Get Around’, the printed sheet music for ‘Good Vibrations’, ‘Fun, Fun, Fun’ and ‘Don’t Worry Baby’, and a sizeable (around 60) selection of photographs, including the above shot of Brian Wilson hunched over a mixing desk. Elsewhere, the haul features recording contracts, signed copyright certificates, personal letters, hand-written lyrics and more.

The archive, which will be exhibited in London’s Hard Rock Cafe before being sold as a single lot at auction in May, was discovered when a music promotions company took part in a ‘lucky dip’ blind auction at a Floridian lock-up. The company bought the set for a few hundred points [via The Daily Mail].
