Hyperdub announce full details of Laurel Halo's Behind The Green Door EP; win tour tickets here

Hyperdub have revealed full details of the new EP from Michigan nonesuch Laurel Halo.

As reported, Halo will return in May with the Behind The Green Door EP. In contrast to Quarantine‘s détourned songcraft, the record reportedly sees Halo back in steelier, rhythm-focused Hour Logic mode. Behind The Green Door is also a hardware-only proposition, with its roots in Halo’s recent touring set-up and a general emphasis on”stripped back” sounds. It’s arguably her most forceful release to date – ‘UHFFO’ sets all manner of digital trickery over a stomping ‘Ima Read’ rhythm, and ‘NOYFB’ is an amphibian piece of syncopated mischief. EP highlight ‘Throw’, meanwhile, is Halo’s scrambled take on piano hardcore.

Halo also has a series of tour dates on the way; see below for the full itinerary. To celebrate the new EP, Hyperdub are giving away a pair of tickets to the XOYO show on April 25. To win, send an email to info@hyperdub.net with an answer to following question: “Which artist painted the artwork for Laurel Halo’s Quarantine release?”. All submissions should have ‘FACT Competition’ in the title field. The entry deadline is Monday April 22; a runner up will win a Hyperdub T-Shirt.

Behind The Green Door is due on May 20 on Hyperdub.
