Julianna Barwick will release a new album, Nepenthe, through her new home of Dead Oceans.

One of the underground’s more overlooked vocalists, Barwick has been releasing music since 2006, and released one of our favourite albums of 2011 in the spell-binding The Magic Place. Pitchfork reports that unlike The Magic Place, this new album wasn’t self-recorded: instead, it was made in Iceland with Alex Somers (one half of Jónsi & Alex, with Sigur Ros’s Jónsi), and features contributions from members of Amiina and Múm and a teenage female choir. No release date as yet.

We’ve embedded ‘Pacing’, Barwick’s single from earlier this year, below.
