If you’ve been wondering why your software productions have sounded a little, well, robotic – this is for you.

Akai’s MPC3000 has long been an industry standard in hip hop production, and much of that was down to its unmistakable swing. The way a beatmaker could throw the rhythms slightly off time to give the tracks a more ‘human’ quality came to define many producer’s beats, none more than the late J Dilla who used the MPC’s characteristic shuffle almost like another instrument at his disposal.

Logic Café have mercifully put together a selection of groove templates so that Logic Pro users can finally claw back that element of humanity that was sorely missing from their beats. The quantizes included in the pack are 1/16th note and 1/8th note quantizes which you can assign a swing from 50% up to 75%, which should be more than enough to force in that unmistakable sound.
