The Detroit legend was in the hot seat to introduce a few of his favourite influences.

Carl Craig’s appearance on BBC 6Music’s weekly 6Mix show isn’t exactly one for the purists – the two-hour set takes in longtime influence Prince, NYC new wavers Tom Tom Club, the mirrored pop of John Foxx and even theatrical countertenor Klaus Nomi, alongside a fair few of the techno treats you’d expect. Craig also admits to nearly shedding a tear the first time he heard Alicia Keys’ devastating torch song ‘101’.

Listen to all two hours of the mix on BBC iPlayer or stream it through Soundcloud below.

Passing through London last month, Craig took FACT TV record shopping in Phonica, where he pondered if we’ll ever see DJs like Derrick May and Ron Hardy again and considered the importance of tuning forks.
