The singer has cancelled a handful of tour dates.

The Chicago Tribune reports that D’Angelo has cancelled a Wednesday concert at Chicago’s House of Blues due to a “medical emergency.” According to a House of Blues executive, an agent for the singer said, “It’s serious, but he should be OK.”

The cancellation follows cancelled performances in New York, Maryland, San Diego, and Minneapolis, with some being attributed to illness or a hospital stay. More as we have it.

Last year, D’Angelo opened up about a difficult decade marked by cocaine addiction and a near-fatal car accident. A new album — his first since 2000 — was set to be turned in earlier this year, but news on that front has been quiet. [via CoS]
