Aidan Moffat to release EP of vinyl surface noise under L. Pierre moniker

The former Arab Strap member continues his sonic experiments as L. Pierre.

Following January’s The Island Come True and last month’s Vine-only album (apparently the first of its kind), Moffat has donned his L. Pierre moniker for an 10″ EP comprised of the familiar sounds of vinyl surface noise.

“In these recordings, L Pierre pays an affectionate tribute to the wear and tear of overplayed vinyl the hiss, scratch and pop of records long loved but worn down,” according to the Melodic Records website. “Its the sound of survival, the echoes of a life lived well moth eaten music of dasness and resilience, of beauty and backbone.”

Stream ‘Movement I’ below; the cover art and tracklist follow. To celebrate the occasion, Melodic has re-pressed Moffat’s 2002 solo debut as Lucky Pierre, Hypnagogia. [via The Vinyl Factory]
