Here’s a turn up for the books – Pixies have quietly released their first collection of new material since 1991.

The untitled EP contains four new tracks, and comes with a sketched design from famous 4AD designer and familiar associate Vaughn Oliver. The news came via the band’s Facebook page on Monday evening, with the band posting, “We have something we would like you to hear!”. The release follows this year’s outta-nowhere ‘Bagboy’, the band’s first new single in almost a decade.

As well as appearing as a digital download, the EP is also available on 10″ vinyl (limited to 5000 copies) and as part of a special package with a supplementary T-Shirt. If we’re getting meticulous, the jacket boasts a “fluorescent orange inner sleeve with gold foil emboss”.

The band – who, as of this year, no longer number bassist Kim Deal among their ranks – have also furnished us with a video for grizzled EP track ‘Indie Cindy’. Click below to watch, and head here to cadge the record. [via Exclaim]
