Tricky’s False Idols was a surprise return to form for the trip-hop pioneer, and now he get the remix treatment from Manchester’s ‘knackered house’ originator Andy Stott.

Stott takes on album highlight ‘Valentine’, and keeps Francesca Belamonte’s luscious vocals intact, opting to disassemble the rhythm instead, building it back gradually in his inimitable style.

The track is due for released on Tricky’s own False Idols imprint and will come on ultra-limited splatter vinyl (of course). Boomkat will be selling the 12″ on September 16, and the rest of the world will have it on September 30.

FACT spoke to Tricky about False Idols earlier this year, and the enigmatic producer gave his opinions of Margaret Thatcher, Katie Price and plenty more, you can check it out here. [via Pitchfork]
