Experimental techno abounds at this London line-up.

Underground dance promoters Colony have teamed up with The Quietus to celebrate the fifth birthday of both ventures with a night of dark and atmospheric dancefloor music in Hackney Wick this month.

Headlining the night is Mark Fell (pictured) with his club music project Sensate Focus. Known as one half of Sheffield minimalists SND, Fell’s Sensate Focus 12″ series saw the producer wrangle the bare minimum of components into ear-ticklingly complex dancefloor music, and this will be the first time he’s brought his project to a London club.

No Symbols boss Beneath will bring his bass-heavy mutations of dubstep, techno and UK funky, while Ruaridh Law, aka Broken20 co-head TVO, will deliver a live set of his UK techno, dub and drone-inspired experiments.

Rounding off the bill are Factory Floor’s Dom Butler with all-hardware set in tow, plus DJ sets from Colony regular Tengui, label honchos MB & CB and Quietus scribe Rory Gibb.

Colony vs The Quietus takes place at The Hive Project in Hackney Wick on Saturday 27 September. Tickets are available from Resident Advisor.
