Robert Hampson‘s carries serious weight around these parts.

Hampson’s formidable 1980s psych-rock outfit Loop are heading out on tour this year, his Main project has reactivated with a new album for Editions Mego – and now here’s a lovely new remix from the man.

Agnes Obel is a Big Deal in Denmark, bagging national awards for her plaintive, gently saccharine singer-songwriter fare. ‘The Curse’ appears on Obel’s second album Aventine, and is pleasant enough in a Magnet sort of way, but this remix from Hampson’s takes it to beautiful new heights. Hampson keeps Obel’s voice intact, but layers it over pealing, siren-song shoegaze.

Aventine is out now on PIAS. ‘The Curse’ will be released via Boomkat on Sunday Oct 13, bundled with the Robert Hampson remix and a supplementary remix from Cloud Boat. You can read our 2012 interview with Hampson here.
