U.S. garage punks Dum Dum Girls have revealed details of their forthcoming LP, a follow-up to last year’s End of Daze EP.

Too True will be out on January 27 in Europe and a day later in North America via Sub Pop, and is led by the booming single ‘Lost Boys and Girls Club’, which presents a far glossier sound than we’re used to from the band, who came to prominence as part of 2010’s wave of lo-fi U.S. bands. Watch the video for that below. Two more singles have already been plotted – ‘Are You Okay’ and ‘Rimbaud Eyes’.

Too True was recorded by frontwoman Dee Dee Penny in New York and Hollywood and produced by the kindred spirit Sune Rose Wagner of Danish punks the Raveonettes and Richard Gottehrer, whose previous credits include Blondie.

To accompany the news, Penny has released a statement detailing her writing process, which she says was fortunately extended due to vocal problems.

Truly one of those disguised blessings—the extra time was a gift. What initially felt like a retreat became a reawakening. These songs weren’t done at all! And so I worshipped at the tall pile of books I’d bought in Los Angeles, on topics and imagery I’d been consumed by and words that had resonated so deeply with me they felt like artistic collaborators: Rainer Maria Rilke, Anaïs Nin, Arthur Rimbaud, Paul Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire, Sylvia Plath; the punk poet singers Patti Smith and Lou Reed (who, like many I consider to be my spiritual parents); and finally, an admittedly unhealthy obsession with the Surrealists’ manifesto of desire.

The band will head out on tour across Europe before Christmas, starting in Amsterdam on December 10 and finishing in Athens on December 15 before dates in L.A. and New York in the New Year. Full dates underneath the video. [via Pitchfork]
