A host of Jack White’s musical ancestors have paid tribute to the modern bluesman on a new album of covers.

Leading the pack is rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson with her version of The White Stripes’ ‘In The Cold, Cold Night’. Her rendition of the Elephant track, which is accompanied by music from Tennessee country rocker Shooter Jennings, is one of 14 songs from White’s catalogue (including solo and Raconteurs material) that have interpreted by rock and roll, rockabilly and punk originals – the very musicians who inspired White’s own career.

You’ll have to hop over to Rolling Stone to hear Jackson’s version of ‘In The Cold, Cold Night’.

Meanwhile, White’s Third Man Records imprint recently released a “cabinet of wonder” containing six LPs of material from the first 10 years of Paramount Records, the American label famous for its early jazz and blues releases.
