New York City will celebrate its own on Thursday November 14.
Lou Reed‘s Facebook page has announced a public memorial in the singer’s honour. The service will take place from 1.00pm until 4.00pm at the Paul Milstein Pool and Terrace in New York’s Lincoln Centre. The post promises a stripped-down, respectful occasion:
A gathering open to the public – no speeches. no live performances, just Lou’s voice, guitar music & songs – playing the recordings selected by his family and friends.
The event follows a host of tributes from writers and artists, including Laurie Anderon’s stunning tribute to her late husband . Reed’s last ever filmed interview hit the web earlier this week; Morrissey, meanwhile, will release a live cover of Transformer cut ‘Satellite of Love’ later this month.
