Flying Lotus' new album "almost ready", has a title and tracklist

Updates from camp Ellison.

As Pitchfork report, beat scene bigwig Flying Lotus spent yesterday fielding questions from fans on Twitter, including a string of enquiries about his forthcoming fifth solo LP.

Recording on the album is now just about finished, with the record “almost ready for mixing”. The record has a title and tracklist locked in, although no details are revealed in the chat. FlyLo also confirmed that the album will have more of a “jazz feel” than previous efforts, claiming that the effect “will b kind of jarring at first”.

Among the more frivolous questions: “have you met Burial?” (yes, he’s “probably the only guy who wears full black addidas [sic] track suits too”); “hash or grass?” (grass, obviously); and “who’s you favorite artist at the moment?”” (Freddie Mercury, obviously). The producer also confirmed that his mooted recordings with jazz legend Herbie Hancock will be released imminently.

FlyLo, naturally, features in our recent comprehensive history of the hip-hop beat tape.
