Benjamin Curtis, of School of Seven Bells, Secret Machines and more, has died aged 35

Benjamin Curtis, of Secret Machines and School of Seven Bells, has died after a year-long battle with cancer.

Alejandra Deheza, Curtis’s bandmate in School of Seven Bells, announced in February 2013 that Curtis had T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. “It developed pretty aggressively, and the chemotherapy to treat it will be pretty aggressive,” she wrote, “but the good news is that it’s treatable. These next few months will be tough, but he is the toughest person I know.”

Curtis died on the night of December 29, at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He was 35.
