Check out Andy Votel's Hindi Horrorcore mix of music from Bollywood's scary movies

Alerting all horror fans and esoterica hunters.

Andy Votel, crate-digger extraordinaire and boss of the barmy Finders Keepers label, has alerted us to his belting mix of music from vintage Indian horror movies, originally put together in 2011 as a freebie for customers spending lots of dosh in his label’s webshop.

The 50-minute Hindi Horrorcore mix is, as Votel puts at, “a bewitching hour of pre-vamped vintage Hindi horror from the Desi-Dracula’s music cabinet”, featuring rare tracks from Bappi Lahiri, R.D. Burman and Sapan Jagmohan, among others, all “butchered by resident werewolf” Votel. You’ll also hear the voice of legendary performer Asha Boshle, a name that even those totally unfamiliar with Bollywood will recognise as the inspiration for Cornershop’s ‘Brimful of Asha’.

Last Halloween, FACT’s resident horror boffin John Twells put together a whole heap of beginner’s guides, including one for spooky soundtrack legend Fabio Frizzi and for Italian horror legends Goblin, plus Death Waltz boss Spencer Hickman made a special FACT mix of soundtrack music.

Votel recently relaunched his hip hop night Slow Down and gave away a beat tape to celebrate.

Listen to Hindi Horrocore – it’s dead good (pun intended):
