The latest episode of Zooey Deschanel’s sitcom features a very purple guest.

Prince has made an appearance in the latest episode of his favourite show New Girl, starring as himself in a role that’s much more than a passing cameo.

Set around a party at the pop star’s house, Prince counsels Deschanel’s character on her love life while feeding her a pancake breakfast (naturally) and showing off his tame pet butterfly. The episode finishes with a musical performance where Prince is joined on stage by Deschanel. It’s all good clean fun – watch it above.

Prince is in the UK this week on a mysterious ‘hit and run tour’ to promote his new project, 3RDEYEGIRL. The campaign starts this afternoon at singer Lianne La Havas’ home, where he’ll announce tour dates.

He recently teased the new single off the forthcoming Plectrumelectrum LP, ‘PRETZELBODYLOGIC’ – hear it below.
