FACT mix Perc main - 2.17.2014

The Perc Trax boss toasts his superb new album with a high-octane session for FACT.

Ali Wells has been releasing music for the best part of a decade, but The Power and the Glory may be his finest moment yet. Described by FACT’s Angus Finlayson as “exploring various states of intensity with skill and subtlety”, it’s a million miles from the legions of run-of-the-mill industrial techno spods doing the rounds, countering the sexlessness of many of Perc’s supposed peers with sweat, instinct and urgency.

Perc’s FACT mix centres around producers that he, presumably, feels an affinity with – it’s easy to draw the links between his music and the burnt-out 4×4 of Blacknecks and Container, after all – but there’s plenty of light in amongst the darkness here too. After all, what’s two hours spent grinding your teeth if you can’t chuck your hands in the air at the end of it?
