Top Dawg bosses hint at Black Hippy and Kendrick Lamar albums coming in 2014

Top Dawg Entertainment have hinted at two major albums forthcoming from the big-hitting indie label this year.

Speaking to Billboard, TDE founder Anthony Tiffith suggested that Kendrick Lamar’s follow-up to 2012’s exceptional Good Kid, M.a.a.d. City is expected to arrive in September 2014.

His business partner also hinted that, contrary to previous pronouncements by Ab-Soul, a collaborative Black Hippy album featuring all four members of the collective – Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul – is on the way this year.

The interview also touched on Macklemore’s Grammys win and the subsequent apology he texted to fellow nominee Lamar.

“That text surprised me, but Macklemore is a genuine dude,” said Lamar. “However it panned out, I wish him much success. He touched people’s souls, and no one can take that away. Really, the whole Grammy moment was incredible. Not everyone gets that shot.”

Schoolboy Q released his album Oxymoron last week and duly announced a world tour.
