While he might still be best known for churning out psychedelic drones as Barn Owl, Jon Porras has a neat sideline in ambient electronics.

His forthcoming album Light Divide is a narcoleptic blend of fuzzy synthesizers and barely-heard beats – sort of like Porter Ricks being introduced to cracks of sunlight instead of staying deep beneath the ocean.

It’s gorgeous stuff, and ‘Apeiron’ might be the best example, with its propulsive low-end stapled to the kind of pads you’d more likely find on Brian Eno’s Apollo. Take a listen below, and check out the track’s moody set of grayscale visuals.

Light Divide is out on March 25, via Thrill Jockey and can be pre-ordered here.
