Selt-Titled Mag and DFA Records report split despite lack of official statement.

Self-Titled Mag have reported that NYC indie rockers The Rapture have split up, a situation backed up by DFA Records label manager Jonathan Galkin who told the magazine:

“I kept thinking it might blow over but that might not be the case. Feel free to go to press with this headline: ‘Did the Rapture Break Up and Not Tell Anyone?'”

The band broke through in 2003 with their debut album Echoes and supported Daft Punk in 2007 after the release of their second LP, Pieces Of The People We Love.

The split was hinted at by a Red Bull Music Academy press release naming frontman Luke Jenner as ‘formerly of The Rapture.’ Jenner had temporarily left the band in 2008, while bassist Mattie Safer had quite in 2009. The band released their last album, In The Grace Of Your Love, in 2011.

Late last year members of the band took part in a benefit for Iranian rock band The Yellow Dogs. [via NME]
