lone-4.2.2014

Teased last week, Lone’s new album Reality Testing has now been officially unveiled.

Matt Cutler has spoken specifically about his influences on the record, citing “Detroit techno,” “old Chicago house” and “hip-hop” as the primary spark in the album’s inception:

“I wanted to make an album that had both hip-hop and house beats, but that weren’t completely different from each other, that shared the same sort of vibe. I love the idea of two things sat side by side, but instead of it seeming like they’re complete opposites, [it’s more that] those two things could almost be the same thing.”

Last year’s excellent ‘Airglow Fires‘ looks like it has made its way to the album, and Cutler has shared new track ‘2 Is 8’, which seems to illustrate the album’s rich set of influences pretty succinctly. You can take a listen to the track below.

Reality Testing will be released on R&S in June. [via Resident Advisor]
