For FACT TV’s latest Inside My Record Bag, we caught up with Bill Brewster.

Writer, DJ and historian, Brewster is best known for his roles launching DJ History and co-writing Last Night a DJ Saved My Life with Frank Broughton. That’s far from the full story with Brewster: one of music’s most eloquent and infectious speakers, he’s appeared on several records himself, and recently has been helming the After Dark series of compilations for Late Night Tales.

We pinned down Brewster on a recent trip to Phonica, where he went through a box of 7″s – the “crack cocaine” of record collecting, in his words – containing Hall and Oates covers, Serge Gainsbourg (“you would, wouldn’t you?”) and more.

Brewster’s latest After Dark compilation is out now.
