prince-8.25.2014

His debut album with touring band 3rdEyeGirl – Plectrum Electrum – is just around the corner, and Prince has now revealed that a new solo album is on the way.

It’s called Art Official Age and is his 37th full length record, but possibly the biggest news here is that he’s managed to patch things up with record label Warner Bros. Prince and the label were famously involved in a very public falling out that led Prince to change his artist name to a symbol, and then The Artist Formerly Known as Prince as an attempt to nullify his contract. It’s been almost two decades since the virtuoso pop star worked with Warner, and they released some of the artist’s finest records, so the signs (boom boom) are looking good.

Art Official Age will be released on the same day as Plectrum Electrum, and will feature the previously released track ‘Breakdown’ which you can hear below. Both records will be released on September 29. [via The Guardian]

Update: you can now hear the album’s second track ‘Clouds’ below. [via Stereogum]
