The bill for the seventh annual Avant Art Festival packs ’em in.

Taking place in Wrocław from October 7-18, Avant Art Festival pulls together a bill of experimental acts, largely from the darker end of the spectrum. Pick of the bill is Sunn O)))’s Stephen O’ Malley, who’ll be performing in collaboration with avant-garde legend Keiji Haino. This sort of meeting of doom and noise royalty doesn’t come along every day, and their double-act should prove a major highlight. The latter will also be performing his own version of Lou Reed’s much-misunderstood LP Metal Machine Music – the noisiest event of the weekend, we’ll wager.

Lo-fi oracle Dean Blunt, hot off the heels of the release of his Black Metal LP for Rough Trade, will also be performing. Seasoned filth-merchant Peaches has been added to the bill, and her pop/glam/electro spectacle is always a great bet. Noise-rockers Supersilent will be jamming live with Led Zep’s John Paul Jones, and ornery sound designer The Haxan Cloak will be touting his dark, rumbling compositions. Forest Swords will be showcasing his moody sampledelia, Scandi-improvisers Fire! will be present and correct, and Swiss beat dude Dimlite will also make the trip. Other acts include Poino, Staer and The Young Gods’ Franz Treichler.
