Since last year, Wire have been running periodic ‘DRILL’ festivals, affording them the opportunity to big up their favourite artists old and new.

Previous iterations have taken place in London and Seattle, and now you can add Brighton to that list. The DRILL: BRIGHTON festival will run from December 7-10, and will feature a broad spread of artists handpicked by the band and promoters One Inch Badge.

The big coup on the bill are enduring industrial rockers Swans, who will be performing off the back of this year’s rollicking To Be Kind. That’s not all: they’ll be appearing alongside Wire for a one-off live performance of the latter’s ‘Drill’, which should have fans of vintage post-punk in conniptions.

Elsewhere, the current manifestation of electro-prog favourites Goblin will be performing their hair-raising classic Suspiria – a high placer in our best albums of the 1970s list – in its entirety. Mercury nominee East India Youth will be showcasing maudlin cuts from his debut album Total Strife Forever, and Gold Panda will be offering detailed, brocaded beat music. Psych outfit Grumbling Fur will explore the outer regions, Ulrich Schnauss will represent the shoegazers, and Savages and Toy will provide succour for the indie crowd. Oh, and Wire will be there, of course.

Talks, exhibitions and films are also promised. Tickets will go on sale on Friday September 19; head here to grab yourself one.
