Raekwon announces new solo album

The Chef is finally ready to unveil Fly International Luxurious Art (F.I.L.A.).

Last week Raekwon revealed that he had pushed back the release of his upcoming solo album in order to concentrate on new Wu-Tang Clan project A Better Tomorrow. With the new Wu album now complete and scheduled to arrive on December 2, Rae has announced that his long-gestating Fly International Luxurious Art (F.I.L.A.) LP is set to arrive next Spring.

“You know, for me, working on my album, at the same time while all this is going on, because, you know, we all been working,” he told HipHopDX. “So for me to sit here and say, ‘This right now is important to the world to see the group reunite and make a great album together.’ I decided to stand for my brothers right now and push my album to the backburner.”

He continued “My album will be coming out next year, in the Spring, you know, around March. I felt I did it for a great cause because this is the family. I had to do that. I feel good about it and I understand more the direction of where everybody wants to go. And we happy. Like I said, you just getting great music at its finest right now.”

Fly International Luxurious Art (F.I.L.A.), Raekwon’s first album since 2011’s Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, will be released on the MC’s own Ice H20 imprint.

The Chef recently sat down wit FACT TV to discuss his opinion of hip hop’s current state, his legacy and forthcoming album.
