Global Gathering cancels 2015 festival

Festival’s future in doubt after next year’s edition cancelled.

GlobalGathering, the massive annual dance event near Stratford-upon-Avon, will not be held in 2015, according to a statement from festival organisers MAMA & Company.

“After 13 years of delivering one of the UK’s most successful electronic dance music events, the promoters of the GlobalGathering UK festival have decided that the festival will take a break in 2015 in order for all elements of the show to be reviewed ensuring GG remains at the heart of the UK dance market,” the statement read.

“This will not affect any of the GG club shows in the UK or international GG events. Thanks to all of our loyal fans for your continued support, please check the website for further updates.”

The announcement comes as a surprise given the current popularity of dance music in the UK. This year’s event at Long Marston Airfield, which featured headliners Chase & Status, David Guetta and The Prodigy, was marred by tragedy when a 20-year-old man died after falling ill at the two-day event.
