Tuff Sherm and Dro Carey prepare split 12" for Templar Sound

The inimitable Antipodean returns with a joint 12″ from his two most vaunted pseudonyms.

Australian producer Eugene Hector has unveiled his latest release, a split 12″ featuring tracks from both his Tuff Sherm and Dro Carey aliases.

The Scope EP features two Tuff Sherm cuts on the A-side with the flip reserved for Dro Carey’s ‘Human Parcel’, backed with a remix from DJ Vague (an alias of Atlanta producer Helix).

Title track ‘Scope’ is a percussive house number centred on a vocal sample from Lil Wayne. Tuff Sherm’s ‘Prime Engine’ recalls the hydraulic pump of Steve Pointdexter’s productions but with a much more ominous vibe. Dro Carey’s relatively gentle ‘Human Parcel’ is the least dancefloor-friendly of the lot and has been beefed up by DJ Vague for a more-club ready feel.

Hector’s Scope EP is only the third record to arrive out of the Sydney-based Templar camp this year having previously delivered DJ Vague’s loop-driven Porsche Trax and Mokona’s ‘Untitled’ grime white label.

Templar Sound will release Tuff Sherm and Dro Carey’s Scope EP on December 8. You can preview all four tracks below. Full disclosure: Templar Sound is a label independently operated by FACT staff member Aidan Bennison.

Tracklist:

A1. Tuff Sherm – Scope
A2. Tuff Sherm – Prime Engine
B1. Dro Carey – Human Parcel
B2. Dro Carey – Human Parcel (DJ Vague Remix)
