Dance Mania and Strut document the wild side of Chicago.

The classic Chicago dance label follows up last year’s essential Hardcore Traxx compilation with a new collection on Strut focusing on the raw sound of ghetto house.

Featuring cuts from local heroes like DJ Deeon, DJ Funk, Paul Johnson, Steve Poindexter and Tyree, Dance Mania: Ghetto Madness traces the ’90s evolution of the sound as Chicago crowds began responding to faster bpms and x-rated lyrics and DJs developed their own underground followings through mixtapes.

The album will be available as an unmixed CD, double LP set and digitally, with illustrations by James Wilson. The CD also includes a fold-out poster and – yes! – tattoos of the Dance Mania DJs.

Hear Paul Johnson’s ‘Give Me Ecstasy’ below and and see the artwork in all its glory and the tracklist underneath. Pre-order here if you fancy.
