Glen E. Friedman’s awesome photos of Public Enemy, Black Flag, Run DMC and more exhibited in London
Beastie Boys, Jay Adams and LL Cool J also pop up in the show.
Glen E. Friedman has been chronicling the underground and capturing pivotal moments in skateboarding, punk, and hip-hop since he picked up a camera in the mid-70s. Run DMC, Black Flag, LL Cool J, Minor Threat, Public Enemy, and Beastie Boys have just a few of the icons he’s captured on film, as well skate heroes like Tony Alva, Jay Adams and Stacy Peralta.
To coincide with the publication of his book My Rules, ATP and Givens present an exhibition of Friedman’s work at 14 Henrietta St in Covent Garden. The exhibition will include audio installations from Ice-T, Ian MacKaye, Alan ‘Ollie’ Gelfand and an unreleased audio interview between Jay Adams and Glen E. Friedman, plus a selection of curated films. There will also be Q&A sessions throughout the opening weekend.
The show launches on November 21 and runs until January 18, 2015. After the premiere in London, the My Rules exhibition will continue to tour worldwide.
